Overview:

The Managing Editor of Youth Pastor Resources works under the leadership of the Director of Publishing to design, create, organize, implement, and maintain all resources that fall within the youth pastor resource vertical at YM360. These resources include all previously published and future MyYouthMin content, MinistryToParents content, YM360 Sermon Series, Free Weekly Online Articles, Freebie Friday content, and any published works with a youth pastor as the primary audience. This individual will build and manage a team of writers, editors, and content creators while working collaboratively with graphic designers, marketing, and other publishing team members. The primary purpose of this role is to oversee, craft, and regularly launch youth pastor content and resources that are creative, impactful, engaging, interactive, God-honoring, and Gospel-centered. The goal of these resources is to train and develop youth pastors while also equipping them with more tools and opportunities to enrich the disciple-making and spiritual growth of the students within their local church youth ministries. The Managing Editor of Youth Pastor Resources will work in a deadline-driven environment. He or she must be comfortable managing simultaneous projects with many moving parts across a dynamic and often changing timeline. This person needs to be a self-starter who values hard work and taking initiative. This person should also have a passion for youth ministry, love serving the Church, and enjoy working closely alongside an amazing team of close-knit, like-minded individuals.


Specific Tasks:

The following components are the roadmap to success and the responsibilities of the Managing Editor of Youth Pastor Resources:

  • Be an expert in the field and knowledgeable regarding the strategy, strengths, weaknesses, content scope/sequence, deliverables, and costs of all YM360 youth pastor resources and other youth pastor resources in the marketplace.
  • Work in coordination with the Director of Publishing to create and lead the publishing team in designing, developing, and launching new monthly content for MyYouthMin, MinistryToParents, YM360 Sermon Series, Free Weekly Online Articles, Freebie Friday, and any works within a publishing year that have a youth pastor as the primary audience.
  • Design and manage all supplementary materials related to MyYouthMin, MinistryToParents, YM360 Sermon Series, Free Weekly Online Articles, Freebie Friday, and published works for youth pastors. These materials include but are not limited to digital content, blog posts, video scripts, product descriptions, StoryBrands, author videos, marketing copy, and promotional videos related to your content vertical.
  • Provide input, oversight, and approval for the proofs and printing/reprinting of all new and previously published MyYouthMin content, MinistryToParents content, YM360 Sermon Series, Free Weekly Online Articles, Freebie Friday content, and published works for youth pastors.
  • Assist in the planning, branding, and Scriptural layout of any new Bible Study Curriculum, GENERATE theme/Village Bible Study materials, and Non-GENERATE Event Resources.
  • Actively recruit, develop, and manage a team of freelance writers, copy editors, youth pastors, and content creators.
  • Manage contracts and payments for any freelance writer, copy editor, video editor, content creator, or author who contributes to MyYouthMin, MinistryToParents, YM360 Sermon Series, Free Weekly Online Articles, Freebie Friday, or published work for youth pastors.
  • Work closely with YM360’s teams and team leads (Operations, Design, Creative, Events, Publishing, Marketing, and Video) to provide leadership, direction, and time management for MyYouthMin content, MinistryToParents content, YM360 Sermon Series, Free Weekly Online Articles, Freebie Friday content, and published works for youth pastors.
  • Provide input and oversight in marketing and other creative meetings across all publishing
  • Work within established systems/processes and help to create new ones to maximize efficiency, create margin, and ensure the quality and trustworthiness of YM360’s resources.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Publishing and CFO to create and assign budgets for guiding projects to completion on time and on budget.
  • Prepare for and actively participate in the publishing team’s annual calendaring retreat.
  • Work to meet the finalized timelines, deadlines, and budgets for the publishing projects under your leadership.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Firm grasp of the four target audiences (youth pastor, small group leader, teenager, parent) and can effectively translate that into product development.
  • Responsible for product development, innovation, and incorporation of new ideas and
  • Manage the production timelines and development process of multiple youth pastor resources at once.
  • Execute daily tasks systematically, proficiently, and efficiently to maximize productivity.
  • Command of the English language, including a firm grasp of spelling, grammar, and punctuation rules.
  • Break down a passage of Scripture, identifying its key theological principles and points of application.
  • Follow YM360’s trusted model of crafting MyYouthMin content, MinistryToParents content, YM360 Sermon Series, Free Weekly Online Articles, Freebie Friday content, and published works for youth pastors, and possess the ability to write and edit these
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with marketing, operations, creative, events, freelance writers, copy editors, video editors, authors, and content creators to maximize the impact of the work and bring the work in conformity with YM360 standards.


Qualifications Include:

  • Must be willing to support the Christian mission of YM360.
  • A desire to serve the Church through a youth ministry organization.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in youth ministry in the local church.
  • A Seminary degree. Exceptions will be considered for a candidate who is pursuing a seminary degree or who has served for 10 years or longer as a full-time youth pastor.
  • Suitable experience in a publishing environment or a strong track record in developing structured youth ministry
  • A high-level understanding of Scripture and a passion for seeing it taught to teenagers.
  • Excellent writing and editorial skills.
  • Computer skills, including a high level of comfort working in Microsoft Word, BaseCamp, and Adobe.
  • An advanced understanding of the youth ministry “ecosystem.”
  • Proficient at multi-tasking within a fast-paced working environment.
  • Be a self-starter who can manage multiple projects across varying production calendars.
  • Able to work well on a tight-knit team but function well individually.
  • Possess a high level of organizational skills.
  • Able to manage people and projects.
  • This position is not remote and requires being based at the YM360 headquarters in Birmingham, AL


Requirements Include:

  • A flexible but consistent schedule, as approved by a supervisor.
  • 40 hours per week (though seasonal deadlines may require additional hours).
  • Travels as needed to support events, trade shows, and training opportunities.

Direct Reports

The position will be supervised by YM360’s Director of Publishing and will work closely with YM360’s Leadership Team and Executive Leadership Team.
