Assistant Worship Leader

Job Details

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

In cooperation with the Associate Pastor of Worship, provide assistance in leading worship and carrying out various functions within our worship / technical arts department.  Key areas of focus will be worship leadership, multi-media usage, special programming and project management.
 

SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Worship Leadership
      • Lead one service on Sunday mornings (when the church moves to 3 services) in coordination with our Associate Pastor of Worship.
      • Provide worship leadership on Wednesday night in our student ministry
      • Assist when called upon in preparing various groups for worship leadership to include, praise teams, praise bands, orchestra, ensembles, etc.
      • Assist in the design and implementation of a worship leadership development strategy that impacts worship ministries within every age grouping at FBCO
      • Be available, as needed, to lead worship at special gatherings and events outside of weekly worship services
  • Technical Arts
      • Provide assistance in the area of technical arts for the ministries of FBCO to include, but not necessarily limited to:
          • Weekly worship services (ex. prepare worship slides, oversee sound and lighting efforts, create videos, utilize graphics, etc.)
          • All special programs for both FBCO and First Baptist Christian Academy (FBCA) (ex. musicals, concerts, revivals, etc.)
          • FBCO Ministries (ex. Student Ministry, Children’s Ministry, Men’s/Women’s Ministries, etc.)
          • Weddings/Funerals
          • Manage special IT and various media projects as assigned
  • Leadership Development
      • Develop and implement the necessary strategies to recruit and train lay leadership to serve in the Worship Leadership and Technical Arts Ministry.
      • Support assigned ministries and teams. Ensure that the responsibilities and purposes of each assigned team and its members are clearly defined and executed.
  • Teamwork
      • Work with the other Ministerial and Support Staff of FBCO to help accomplish the goals and objectives as set forth by the Pastor and Leadership Council.
      • Serve on church Committees, Councils, and Teams as assigned.
      • Perform other duties as requested by the Associate Pastor of Worship or Senior Pastor.

  • Must have the education and experience needed and necessary to properly fulfill the specific job functions and responsibilities of leading worship and helping in the area of technical arts.
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, direct, and control various tasks related to dynamic and growing church ministry.
  • Must be willing and able to establish performance measurements and be accountable for expected results.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to supervise other individuals.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to develop leaders through coaching and training, including both ministerial and non-ministerial personnel.
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively and tactfully with church personnel, members, and the general public. Must be able to relate a positive image of the church to employees, members, and the general public. Must be a team player.
  • Must be capable of administering church policies and procedures.
  • Employee must be a good steward with the resources (time, money and supplies) God has provided to FBCO.

 WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Wok involves handling stressful situations, working under pressure and handling of sensitive and confidential information.
  • Work may require time both in and out of the office, both daytime and evening, 40 - 50 hours per week.
  • Work may involve supervising a variety of paid and voluntary positions.
