What is Activate: GOD's GLORY?

The idea of God's glory can sometimes be a mysterious and relatively complex concept for teenagers to get a grasp. The truth is that it can be complicated for adults as well! And this has always been the case. But, through God's Word, we can begin to grasp the truth about God’s glory, not only in how it is defined, but how it is displayed in and to us.

God’s Glory, one of the studies in the Activate line of Bible study curriculum, will help your students know exactly what God's glory is, how it is expressed through Christ's work on the cross, and what it means to reflect God's glory in the world around them.

WHAT'S COVERED IN GOD'S GLORY?

LESSON 1: GLORY DEFINED

What we want students to learn: That God’s glory speaks predominantly to the honor and awe due to God simply for who He is.

What we want students to do with what they’ve learned: To learn to both look for God’s glory and respond to it in their daily lives.

Scripture Focus: Exodus 24:15-18, Luke 2:8-10, Revelation 21:22-25, 1 Chronicles 16:23-29, Psalms 19:1-3, Romans 1:18-20

Overview: God's glory is one of those "churchy" concepts we understand . . . Or at least we think we do. But when we attempt to define it, we have a hard time pinning it down. These three lessons will help your students know exactly what God's glory is, how it is expressed through Christ's work on the cross, and what it means to reflect God's glory in the world around them. But for this lesson, your students will dig in deep to look at God's glory from a few different angles. They'll be challenged to begin to have a greater awareness of God's glory and to consider what their personal response to God's glory should be.

LESSON 2: GLORY DISPLAYED

What we want students to learn: That students would understand the role Jesus played in physically demonstrating God’s glory on this earth.

LESSON 3: GLORY TO GOD THROUGH US

What we want students to learn: That students would understand that God is given glory as they live out their everyday lives.

What we want students to do with what they’ve learned: To be more identified with Christ through their daily actions and interactions.

Scripture Focus: 1 Corinthians 10:31-33, 1 Peter 1:3-7, 2 Corinthians 4:7-15

Overview: In Lesson 1, you defined God's glory as the honor, awe, and reverence that He is due just because of who He is. In Lesson 2, you learned that when Jesus was on this earth, He was a walking, talking billboard for God's glory on display. Through His life, death, resurrection, and ascension, Jesus revealed the awe and honor that God inherently possesses. In this lesson, your students will be challenged to look at their own lives as pathways by which God's glory might be affirmed and made known in the world they find themselves living in. Your students will see that the things they do and say, especially in times of trial or hardship, show others that God is worthy of honor and reverence.

REAL STORIES FROM REAL YOUTH PASTORS

"This year long curriculum is absolutely incredible! I am using this curriculum for 7th-12th grade Sunday morning bible studies. My teachers and students have been engaged every week with the studies that have been put together. This has been an easy win for our student ministry."

"First let me say I really enjoy going through my YM360 curriculum with our students. The units don't shy away from the tough subjects, but are also super relatable for our students. The organization of the lessons and helpful tips is a huge asset to our teachers as well. They allow our teachers who don't have a seminary degree to feel comfortable teaching the Bible."

"Our adult teachers are very impressed with the lessons in your studies, and the students enjoy it as well. Thank you for providing excellence in your ministry!"
