What is Activate: Salvation?

Christ was always God's ultimate answer for the salvation of His children. In Salvation, students will see that Jesus alone can grant us access to God and life. This access is only available to those who believe that Jesus is who He said He was, and in this belief seek the salvation God offers through grace. Out of this new life, there comes a new purpose.

Salvation, one of the studies in the Activate line of Bible study curriculum, will help your students understand why they need salvation, where it comes from, and how to tell others about the life-change that God offers to us all!

WHAT'S COVERED IN THE SALVATION?

LESSON 1: THE GOD WHO SAVES

What we want students to learn: That your students would understand how remarkable it is that God offers salvation to humankind.

What we want students to do with what they’ve learned: To express praise and thanks to God for His unfailing desire to offer them life.

Scripture Focus: Genesis 2:15-17, 3:6-7, Romans 5:12, Romans 3:23, Psalm 40:1-3

Overview: When we talk with students about the idea of salvation, we often start with the story of Christ's atoning death on the Cross. This isn't wrong by any means. It's just incomplete. To fully understand the work Jesus did on our behalf, not only do students need to know why they need salvation in the first place, but they also need to see God's great desire to give us life, especially when we deserve death. In lesson 1, you'll lead your students to understand the depth of the salvation they're offered in Christ and the means by which it's made available. But in this lesson, your students will be taught the powerful back-story that will help them grasp the fullness of the salvation God offers.

LESSON 2: JESUS = SALVATION

What we want students to learn: That only through faith in Christ’s work on the cross can they be saved from death.

What we want students to do with what they’ve learned: To discover and live out God’s purpose for their lives.

Scripture Focus: Matthew 1:18-23, John 14:6, Acts 4:12, Ephesians 2:1-10

Overview: Lesson 1 helped your students ground the concept of salvation in the character of God. Lesson 2 connects the dots, helping students see how Christ was always God's ultimate answer for the salvation of His children. In this lesson, students will see that Jesus alone can grant us access to God and life. This access is only available to those who believe that Jesus was who He said He was, and in this belief seek the salvation God offers through grace. Out of this new life, there comes a new purpose.

LESSON 3: NEW LIFE, NEW PURPOSE

What we want students to learn: That being living examples of the Gospel story - the good news of God's gift of salvation through Christ - is wholly intertwined in the new life Jesus made possible for them.

What we want students to do with what they’ve learned: To define what it means to tell the story of salvation with their everyday lives.

Scripture Focus: Romans 1:16-17, 2 Corinthians 4:13, Romans 10:9-15, Matthew 5:16, 1 Peter 2:12

Overview: In Lessons 1 and 2, your students gained a full look at what it means to be saved by God. This final lesson on salvation will paint the picture for your students of what their life will look like when they begin to internalize the amazing gift of salvation. The more they see God's salvation for what it is, the more they will be compelled to communicate to the world the Gospel. This desire to communicate the Gospel story should be born out the joy of realizing what God has done for them. It should never be a burden or something they feel pressured to do. It should be a challenge they rise to accept, a joy-filled, yet somewhat serious calling they gladly embrace out of love for others. This lesson will help your students see that they can tell the story of God's life-giving gift through both their words and actions. Students will be challenged to tell the story of salvation with their everyday lives.

REAL STORIES FROM REAL YOUTH PASTORS

"This year long curriculum is absolutely incredible! I am using this curriculum for 7th-12th grade Sunday morning bible studies. My teachers and students have been engaged every week with the studies that have been put together. This has been an easy win for our student ministry."

"First let me say I really enjoy going through my YM360 curriculum with our students. The units don't shy away from the tough subjects, but are also super relatable for our students. The organization of the lessons and helpful tips is a huge asset to our teachers as well. They allow our teachers who don't have a seminary degree to feel comfortable teaching the Bible."

"Our adult teachers are very impressed with the lessons in your studies, and the students enjoy it as well. Thank you for providing excellence in your ministry!"
