What is Activate: God's Power?

Do your students believe God has absolute power over all things and all events? As we look through the Gospels, we see that Jesus does both, and both have to do with our own personal lives. He has power over the natural and spiritual world and is in control of it all.

God’s Power, one of the studies in the Activate line of the Bible study curriculum, will help your students draw strength and comfort from the fact that we serve an all-powerful God that is at work in and through us.

WHAT'S COVERED IN GOD'S POWER?

LESSON 1: He's got it all

What we want students to learn: That God has ultimate power over all things and occurrences.

What we want students to do with what they’ve learned: To consider whether or not they truly believe that God has power over everything.

Scripture Focus: Psalm 24:8; Jeremiah 32:27; Isaiah 55:8-9

Overview: God can do anything. Nothing's impossible with God. God is all-powerful. God is almighty. These are some pretty common things you hear in church. They're pretty common things our students and us say about God and His nature. The question is: Do we believe it? Do your students believe God has absolute power over all things and all events? In lesson 1 you'll help students understand that God has power over everything and every circumstance. In lesson 2 you'll show students how Jesus embodies that power and uses it for His glory and our good. In lesson 3 you'll help students learn about how God's power plays out in their lives.

LESSON 2: He's over it all

What we want students to learn: That Jesus exercises His power for our good.

What we want students to do with what they’ve learned: To flesh out how Christ’s power impacts their own personal lives.

Scripture Focus: Mark 4:35-41; Mark 2:1-12

Overview: So, God can do anything and everything He wants. Are we talking just big-picture things or specifics that have to do with our own personal lives? As we look through the Gospels, we see that Jesus does both, and both have to do with our own personal lives. He has power over the natural and spiritual world and is in control of it all. As you go through this lesson, you'll help students see how much peace and comfort they can draw from this truth. In lesson 1 you showed students that God has the power to do everything He pleases. In this lesson, you'll help them see how Jesus embodies that power and uses it for our good.

LESSON 3: It's in us

What we want students to learn: That God’s power is at work in and through us for His glory.

What we want students to do with what they’ve learned: To come to an understanding that they’ve been equipped to do all that God calls them to do and that their lives can bring God glory.

Scripture Focus: Ephesians 3:20-21; 2 Corinthians 9:8

Overview: If people have ever told our students the Christian life was going to be easy, they lied to them. They might not have intentionally lied, but they lied. It's tough. As an adult, you know it's not always puppies and roses and nice things. However, we can draw strength and comfort from the fact that we serve an all-powerful God that is at work in and through us. This is the truth of this final lesson. In the last lesson, we saw that Jesus moves in great power for our good. In this lesson, we are going to see that He moves in power in us for His glory. He equips us for everything he calls us to do, and He receives the glory from it. In lesson 1 we learned that God has the power to do everything He pleases. In lesson 2 we saw how Jesus embodies that power and uses it for our good. Finally, in lesson 3 we'll learn about how God's power plays out in our lives.

REAL STORIES FROM REAL YOUTH PASTORS

"This year long curriculum is absolutely incredible! I am using this curriculum for 7th-12th grade Sunday morning bible studies. My teachers and students have been engaged every week with the studies that have been put together. This has been an easy win for our student ministry."

"First let me say I really enjoy going through my YM360 curriculum with our students. The units don't shy away from the tough subjects, but are also super relatable for our students. The organization of the lessons and helpful tips is a huge asset to our teachers as well. They allow our teachers who don't have a seminary degree to feel comfortable teaching the Bible."

"Our adult teachers are very impressed with the lessons in your studies, and the students enjoy it as well. Thank you for providing excellence in your ministry!"
