Through the life of Elijah, students will discover what it looks like to have faith in every season of life. Through seasons of hopelessness, challenge, loneliness and fear, to finding purpose, God has extraordinary plans for us. Elijah’s story reminds us that God provides hope, victory, belonging, and purpose. No matter what we face, we’re never too ordinary for God’s extraordinary plans.

"EXTRAORDINARY LIFE" COVERS THE FOLLOWING PURPOSES AND PASSAGES:

    • Session 1 - But First, Some Cake (1 Kings 17:8-16) | This session introduces Elijah through his encounter with a hopeless widow and her son, showing us how God gives hope in hopeless times. Students will discover how hope starts small, requires trust, and transforms. Even in our lowest moments, God is faithful to provide hope.
    • Session 2 – Have You Checked The Bathroom? (1 Kings 18:17-39) | Even when Elijah faced 450 prophets alone, he trusted that God would be victorious. In the same way, when we feel outmatched by the brokenness in our world or in our lives, we can trust that God isn’t. He is greater than whatever we face, and He will prevail.
    • Session 3 – When God Made Pancakes (1 Kings 19:3-18) | After Elijah’s victory on Mount Carmel failed to turn Israel’s heart back to God, he was devastated. Feeling lost, alone, and running for his life, he ran into the desert, ready to give up. But God met him there with rest, care, renewed purpose, and community. Because when we feel lost and alone, God gives us a home.
    • Session 4 – Definitely (Not) an Alien Abduction (2 Kings 2:9-12) | This is the final moment of Elijah’s life, and while the story may seem extraordinary at first, it is filled with ordinary human moments. It is by finding these moments that we can let the story truly speak to us where we are and take us where we need to go. It reminds us that no one is too insignificant for God’s story.
