    "BY NAME" COVERS THE FOLLOWING PURPOSES AND PASSAGES:

    • Session 1 - God Knows You (Genesis 25:21-26; Jeremiah 1:5; Psalm 139:13) | In Session 1, we’ll start the story of Jacob with his birth and the meaning behind his name, showing us that names carry significance and can shape how we view others and even ourselves. In this session, we’ll uncover the truth that God knows us and loves and invites us to be known and loved by Him.

    • Session 2 - God Invites You (Genesis 28:10-13; Genesis 28:20-21; John 1:45-51) | In Session 2, we’ll focus on God’s personal invitation for us, using the story of Jacob as our example. Despite Jacob’s past as a trickster, God invited him into a greater purpose of knowing Him and living for Him. It shows us that no one is beyond God’s love and purpose. In this session, we’ll challenge students to look past their past, accept God’s invitation, and make their faith their own.

    • Session 3 - God Asks You Your Name (Genesis 32:3-12; Genesis 32:13-15;20; Genesis 32:24-28) | This session explores Jacob’s pivotal encounter with God before reuniting with his brother. In the middle of the night, Jacob wrestles all night with a mysterious man and is asked a profound question. This question leads Jacob to come face to face with himself and with God, surrender to Him, and find his new identity from God. 

    • Session 4 - God Changes And Uses You (Genesis 35:1-3; Hebrews 11:21; Matthew 1:2) | In the final session, we’ll see how God changed Jacob’s life and desires to change ours. Through Jacob’s story, we’ll see how God gave Jacob a new identity and how God used him. God uses Jacob and his family’s lineage to bring about the blessing of Jesus, the Savior of the world. In this session, we’ll discover how God changes us and uses us for His glory.
