Position Overview:

We are seeking a high energy, motivated, missional Leader who as Youth Pastor can grow and disciple the young people involved in leading Str8Up Ministries. The ideal candidate will develop a dynamic and engaging Jr High and High School ministry that delivers spiritual growth, a love for Jesus, and a strong, magnetic community for its Students. This individual should be a resilient active communicator, relationship-builder, and mentor who leads thru Christ-like example.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continue to run and further develop a comprehensive urban youth ministry, including weekly gatherings, Bible studies, events, trips, and service opportunities.
  • Plan and lead weekly “Club” gatherings that incorporate biblical life messages, scriptural teaching, and games, challenges, social activities.
  • Actively participate in local school events; to be a consistent, go-to leader for students.
  • Intentionally support students’ athletic, art, and extracurricular activities.
  • Train and mentor students in their personal relationship with Christ.
  • Provide spiritual guidance and pastoral care to students (and occasionally their families).
  • Organize trips, retreats, and programs to engage students in adventure, life planning, and leadership.
  • Create an environment where young people feel valued, heard, and encouraged in their faith walk.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Str8Up Ministries to align youth ministry with the overall vision and mission of the organization.
  • Ensure a safe and welcoming environment, adhering to organization policies and safety guidelines.

  • A missional call.
  • Grit and flexibility.
  • A committed and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrating strong biblical knowledge and faith.
  • Previous experience in youth ministry or church leadership is highly desirable.
  • Strong ability to connect with and relate to urban young people.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with organization and school staff, volunteers, and parents.
  • Passion for discipleship and spiritual development of youth.
  • Familiarity with social media, technology, and creative methods for engaging students.

A Day in the Life:

  • Evening and weekend work required for services, events, and meetings.
  • Flexibility in schedule to accommodate “after-hours” ministry needs.
  • Office and local on-site work environment, with occasional travel for retreats and trips.

Compensation:

  • Salary: $55k-$65k annually
  • Housing/Health Allowance: $15k annually
