Youth Worker BOOST: Family Matters
ym360 knows youth workers. We know what an incredibly rewarding, yet incredibly challenging job youth ministry can be. There are days when your spirits are sky-high, and there are days when you could use a bit of a “pick me up” from God's Word . . . That's why we're happy to offer Youth Worker Boost, one of the many valuable resources on the ym360 Blog.
Boost is a short, weekly piece of encouragement designed to, well, “boost” your spirits and encourage you as you minister to students. We consider it yet another great opportunity to serve you and your ministry.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. — 1 John 4:7
The statistics can be overwhelming when you stop and think about it. While studies show the divorce rate may be down slightly nationally, it is still hovering close to the fifty percent rate. How many teenagers does this impact? How many teenagers live in homes touched by divorce? Add to this the fact that the newest studies have found that millennials are getting married at historically low rates, and you quickly realize that our cultural landscape is one where the biblical concept of family is becoming less and less of a reality.
How does this impact us as those who minister to teenagers?
I think John’s words ring out as one of the answers to this question. As Christ-followers, love is in our DNA. We must start with loving our family with the love of Christ. And then, we must let this love overflow to the students and parents in our ministries that need to the most. Remember, the love of Christ in us is a seeking, sacrificial, and selfless love. It’s a love that runs so counter to the ways of the world.
By living a life of love, we mitigate the impact of sin in the world around us, and we draw others to see God as the source of all love.
Our prayer for you: Our prayer for you is that you would be messengers of Christ’s love, first to your own family, then to those in your ministry who need it the most.
