Let’s face it: It can be hard for teenagers to live as Christ-followers in their day-to-day life. And a lot of this has to do with other people’s perceptions of what it means to be a Christian. The world has so much to say about who Christ-followers are, most of it misguided. How can teenagers accurately portray who they are in Christ? According to Jesus, one of the most effective ways can be summed up in one phrase: loving others.

Jesus and Loving Others: A 4-Lesson Bible Study, one of 13 Jesus Studies Bible studies, will help you teach your students that loving others is second only to loving God; that it takes a heart after Christ’s to love those who don’t like us; that Jesus desires for His people to actively show love to the poor and needy; and that as Christ-followers, their very identity is to be defined by their love for others.

Teach Jesus and Loving Others to your students and help challenge them to embrace a life of loving others.

  • Lesson 1: The Greatest Commandment

Learning Objective: Students will learn that according to Jesus, loving others is second only to loving God. It’s a crucial part of being who God wants us to be; and will be challenged to evaluate their own attitudes toward loving others, especially in light of what it says about how they love God. (Matthew 22:34-40; 1 John 3:10)

Lesson 2: Love Isn’t Always Easy

Learning Objective: Students will learn that it’s easy to love people who love us back, but it takes a heart after Christ’s to love those who don’t like us; and will be challenged to identify some examples of what it practically looks like to love their “enemies,” and to commit to living out their responses. (Matthew 5:43-48; Romans 13:8-10)

    Lesson 3: Loving The Least

Learning Objective: Students will learn that Jesus desires for His people to actively show love to the poor and needy, those who Jesus called “the least of these”; and will be challenged to identify practical ways they can demonstrate the love of Christ to the poor and needy in their community. (Matthew 25:31-46; Deuteronomy 15:7-8)

Lesson 4: Known By Their Love

Learning Objective: Students will learn that as Christ-followers, they are to be defined by their love for others; and will be challenged to define what it means to demonstrate Christ’s love for others and to identify a few practical ways they can act in a loving way toward others. (John 13:31-35; John 15:12-13; 1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

  • Secure your next year of Bible study strategy today with the Jesus Studies 52-Week Strategy

Fears every Youth Worker has when selecting a year-long Bible Study:

    • The fear of locking into a Bible study that looks good on the surface but doesn't go any deeper than surface-level
    • The fear of being a few weeks into a study and it not meeting the expectations you set
    • The fear of picking a study that doesn't ultimately speak into the lives of your students

It doesn't have to be this way.

You don’t need to be reminded of the issues teenagers deal with as they try to live out their faith in a world that’s often opposed to their core beliefs. Navigating these issues can be rough. Teenagers get so many mixed messages; the world says one thing, their friends may say another. And we hope they know enough about their faith to know how to make sense of it all.

The Jesus Studies, a 52-week Bible study strategy, cut through the confusion, teaching your students a Christ-centered look at the major issues they deal with in their lives.

These are not watered-down, topical Bible studies. These studies reveal how Jesus weighs in on the very issues your students are confronted with on a daily basis. Your students will learn to see life through the person of Christ.

Your students will journey through the following concepts: Jesus and Identity, Your Faith, Jesus and Culture, Jesus and Loving Others, Jesus and Tough Times, Jesus and Your Image, Jesus and Stress, Jesus and Forgiveness, Jesus and Influence, Jesus and Relationships, Jesus and Your Future, Jesus and Mean People, and Jesus and Stuff.

Teach The Jesus Studies to equip your students to see the relevant issues of their lives through the words of Jesus.
