Lesson Objective: To help students understand how offering thanks to God changed through the Bible and what that means as they look for ways to offer their thanks to God.
Scripture Focus: Leviticus 7:12-15, Isaiah 1:10-17, Hebrews 13:15-16
Overview: Thanksgiving lessons are great opportunities to teach students what the Bible says about giving thanks to God. During this time of year, everyone is thinking about the concept of thankfulness. For many people Thanksgiving seems more synonymous with food, family events, and time off from school than it does an attitude of thankfulness. Even Christians sometimes struggle to separate the secular holiday from the Biblical call to give thanks to God. This lesson will give you the tools you need to not only help teenagers see how the practice of showing thanks to God evolved from the Old Testament to the New Testament, but also give you some practical applications for daily life. Your students will learn both why they should thank God and some ways they can show their thanks to Him.
