Have you questioned any of your student's short-term memory skills lately? This game puts that skill to the test.

The screen will flash a random arrangement of bears and chairs (hence the name of the game). Then students have to see how much they can remember in order. It sounds simple; It sounds silly. It is, but it's also a lot of fun! This game gets more intense than you would expect. You've been warned.

What makes this a premium game?

Premium games are those that you can play over and over again as the outcomes of our premium games are never the same! Watch the video to the left to learn all about how this premium game works. Games that are "one and done" are a part of our Classic Game catalog and those can be seen here.

  • Getting Started:

    • Launch the game and display it on your screen -- Bears and Chairs can be played a bunch of different ways which are listed below. The gist of the game is to try and remember a random sequence of bears and chairs. There are two modes:
      • Default Mode - This just randomly picks a bear or a chair and displays it on screen with every spacebar press.
      • Playback Mode - This mode goes back and repeats what was shown in default mode.

    Instructions:

    • So, you’d start the game by hitting the spacebar to reveal a sequence of bears and chairs. Then, hit the Enter/Return key on your keyboard to toggle Playback Mode. Have a student say what is coming up next (a bear or a chair). Press the spacebar (while in playback mode) to reveal the next bear/chair in the sequence. When you’re done with Playback Mode, just hit the Enter/Return key again.
    • The sequence will be cleared and a new one will start with every spacebar press. There are a few ways you can play this game:
      • Contestant/Team - Bring a student up and explain that you’re going to flash a bunch of bears and chairs on the screen. If they can remember the order of 15, they’ll win a prize!
      • Head to Head - Bring two students up and have them challenge enough other for who can remember the most. Place them back to back and have them raise their left hand for Chair and their right hand for bear. First person to get it wrong loses.
      • Crowd - Have everyone stand up. Show a sequence of about 30 bears/ chairs. Then go into Playback Mode and have everyone raise their left hand for Chair and their right hand for bear. If they’re wrong, they sit down. Keep doing this until there’s a winner!
