DO YOUR STUDENTS STRUGGLE WITH THEIR COMMITMENT TO FOLLOW JESUS?
Do your students ever tell you that it seems like there is a disconnect between what they believe about Jesus and how they actually live their lives? Do they ever share how they feel like they’ve become distracted or maybe lost sight of growing in their faith due to being pulled in so many different directions?
Let’s face it; it can be hard to stay committed to following Jesus. The good news is that your students are not alone, and God doesn’t want to leave them where they are. The Book of Hebrews was written to people just like them. Specifically, it was written to a group of people who were struggling with their faith, their circumstances, and following through in their commitment to Jesus.
The writer of Hebrews knew this and showed them step by step how they could grow in their faith, overcome sin, move to maturity, and live out their beliefs. How did the writer do this? By continually reminding his readers throughout this letter that Jesus is Better, better than anything that competes with His attention in their lives. Specifically, the writer pointed out how Jesus was better than any prophet, priest, or king of the Old Testament.
