Linked Post: 5 Reasons The Church Needs Youth Ministry

Mark Matlock is the President of Youth Specialties and a youth ministry veteran. He is also a good friend and a great guy.

Mark makes a powerful statement to introduce this video over on youthspecialties.com. He says that he sort of feels that youth ministry is under attack. I kind of agree with him. And that's why I wanted to share his video. I think Mark's reasons are dead on and worth a few minutes of your time.

Here's the first two of Mark's 5 Reasons The Church Needs Youth Ministry. I hope you head over to the YS to watch the rest of the video.

Reason #1 That The Church Needs Youth Ministry: Youth Ministry Is Vital To Helping Teenagers Integrate Into the Larger Intergenerational Community Of The Church.

Mark says that this used to happen naturally, but in today's world they need advocates. That's where youth ministers step in. A youth minister can help teenagers integrate into the larger Church.

Reason #2 That The Church Needs Youth Ministry: Youth Ministry Resists The Status Quo, Helping The Church Stay Relevant In A Changing Culture.

I love what Mark says here. He says that teenagers may not have all the answers, but they definitely raise the questions. Especially the question, "What really matters to being Jesus in today's world"? The church needs to ask these questions, and youth ministry helps.
