Having Real Conversations About Real Issues

Ask the parents in your ministry, and most of them will acknowledge that they want to talk with their teenagers about the real stuff. A lot of them are just scared to or don’t know where to start. They don’t want to overact, say the wrong thing, or push their child in the wrong direction, so they avoid the hard conversation altogether. The month is about helping parents learn to stay in the conversation, even the uncomfortable ones. These resources are built to help you equip parents to respond with calm instead of panic, to listen before they lecture, and to keep the door open. Continue to look for ways to encourage parents to lean in with patience and grace as they navigate through tough conversations. Sometimes, the most equipping thing you can do is remind a parent they aren’t going through it alone.
