The Student Ministry Director will ensure that all students, 6th through 12th grade, are discipled through worship, bible study, fellowship, missions and outreach, while providing an environment where all students feel safe, welcomed, known, and loved by God and His church. He/she will oversee student ministry staff and a team of volunteer leaders to help in all areas of student ministry. They will partner with parents and equip them as the primary spiritual mentors of their children. This person will also establish a vision for student ministry that is in line with the church’s overall vision and core values, and will develop strategic steps to execute that vision.
The ideal candidate has a genuine love of Christ and feels called to Student Ministry. He/She needs to be a capable leader with a strong work ethic and time management skills. They will need to be able to recruit, equip and lead a large volunteer team and effectively communicate with parents. They need to be a team player within the church staff. He/she will have a heart and passion for teenagers and is called to shape the next generation of Christ followers. This candidate is culturally competent and has the desire and ability to reach and engage students and families of different ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds. He/she is an engaging teacher with a strong theological foundation and has a personal and continually growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a healthy personal life. He/she is expected to belong to the Sugar Land Methodist Church and to attend Worship.
