"FOUNDATIONS" IS PART OF YM360’S SERMON SERIES LINE OF RESOURCES AND IS IDEAL FOR:
- Any large group setting
- Mid-week youth service
- "Master teacher” format
Session 1: In the Beginning- (Genesis 1:1-31, Genesis 2:1-3) | At the creation of the world, God speaks everything into existence and declares it "very good." This session emphasizes the creativity and intentionality of God in creation. We’ll explore what it means for humans to be made in the image of God and how this gives every person value and purpose.
Session 2: The Fall - (Genesis 3:1-24) | Genesis 3 tells the story of Adam and Eve’s disobedience and the entrance of sin into the world. We’ll discover how the fall has impacted humanity—bringing brokenness, shame, and separation from God. However, we’ll also point to God’s promise of redemption. Students will explore how sin distorts our relationship with God, ourselves, and others, and we’ll discuss how this brokenness is still present in our world today.
Session 3: Faith in the Unknown- (Genesis 12:1-9, Genesis 15:1-6) | God calls Abraham and makes a promise to bless him and all the nations through him. This covenant marks the beginning of God’s plan to restore the world through His people. We’ll explore what it means to live in faith like Abraham, who trusted God even when he couldn’t see how the promises would unfold.
Session 4: God Always Works- (Genesis 50:15-21, Genesis 37:1-28) | The story of Joseph reveals how God can take even the darkest moments in our lives and use them for good. We’ll trace Joseph’s journey from slavery to becoming a ruler in Egypt who saves lives. In this story, Joseph declares that what his brothers meant for evil, God used for good. Students will be encouraged to consider how God might be working behind the scenes in their own struggles.
