The Middle School Ministries Director is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive program of care, evangelism, spiritual growth and ministry opportunities to see middle school students grow compelling relationships with God and others to have an irresistible influence in the world. Through the efforts of staff and volunteers, this person will display the gospel of Christ and equip middle school students and leaders to live the Christian faith in alignment with the vision and values of Fellowship Bible Church.


Qualifications:

  • A personal spiritual life congruent with biblical mandates for leaders (1 Timothy 3:1-7).
  • A personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a healthy family life.
  • A capacity to lead and impart vision for middle school ministry.
  • A giftedness and calling to student ministry, a love for young people, and a passion for evangelism and discipleship, both personally and at the ministry level.
  • Relational skills with students, parents, and staff.
  • A strong biblical and theological background, being in agreement with Fellowship’s Belief Statement and Doctrinal Affirmations & Renunciations.
  • Experience in student ministry, basic administrative skills, and a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field (or pursue thereof).


Specific Responsibilities (in conjunction with the High School Pastor):

  • To plan, coordinate, and implement middle school ministry curriculum, including all educational materials and tools.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and provide leadership and support for a team of adult volunteers (using safe sanctuary guidelines) while regularly assessing volunteer’s competence in discipling and inspiring middle school students.
  • Ensure that competent adult leadership will not only supervise but will be committed to building relationships at youth events.
  • Work with volunteers to help them understand their roles as leaders by developing annual goals, follow-up feedback, providing resources, and growth opportunities.
  • Follow through with mandatory volunteer screening and background check process to ensure a competent and qualified body of volunteer adults.
  • To develop and implement regular activities for students (including camps, retreats, mission trips, etc.) and integrate these into the overall worship, evangelism, and discipleship strategy of FSM.
  • To manage annual middle school ministry budget and ensure that all guidelines for expenses and purchases are followed by team members.
  • To lead and organize effective programs that foster fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and evangelism, as well as ministry and mission opportunities.
  • To support parents in effectively fulfilling their roles as Christian fathers and mothers, in an effort to encourage discipleship in the home.
  • To integrate middle school ministry into various aspects of church life to complement other church ministries.


Individual Responsibilities:

  • To engage, support, and teach students with the intent of making self-replicating disciples.
  • To provide counseling and spiritual direction to youth on an individual basis.
  • To build and maintain strong and positive relationships with middle school students and parents. (e.g. connecting with students and families by attending sporting events, artistic performances, and community functions).
  • To maintain contact with students and parents, keeping them informed of ongoing activities, including sharing ministry goals, publicizing events, and soliciting feedback and participation (including the use of email, social media, text, video and/or newsletter).
  • To keep parents updated on ministry strategies and plans in a way that encourages partnership and involvement.
  • In conjunction with the Senior High pastor and the Fellowship Kids Director organize youth baptisms (both service & mentoring).
  • Other duties as required.


Expectations:

  • To grow FSM’s middle school ministry in meaningful ways.
  • To present semi-annual ministry updates and goals for the coming year to the High School Pastor.
  • To present a yearly middle school ministry budget proposal.
  • To attend worship services, staff prayer meetings, and special events.
  • To attend weekly staff meetings to ensure alignment of mission across the organization.
  • To meet bi-weekly one-on-one with High School Pastor for mentoring, direction, encouragement, and support.
  • To establish personal networks communicating with other student ministry leaders and by visiting other churches.
  • To pursue personal development by attending conferences and educational workshops as well as by reviewing relevant publications.


Salary Range: $55K - $65K
