This position is to carry out the First Methodist Church of Andalusia's mission of ministering God’s Word to and among families. The Pastor of Family Ministries (PFM) will provide pastoral care for the church by overseeing the youth ministries to ensure the family of God works together to make disciples of the next generation. The PFM is a shepherd for parents of young people to train, disciple, and raise their children. The PFM provides pastoral care for the young (children, youth, and early adults) and oversight to the part-time children and youth directors.
Qualifications:
- Possess a passion to make disciples and see spiritual growth among children and youth.
- Able to communicate and articulate the gospel.
- Agree with the Global Methodist Church Doctrine.
- Possess a passion for the health and maturity of the local church.
- Hold an MDiv degree or Certificate from a certified theological seminary.
Areas of Responsibility:
The Pastor of Family Ministries will oversee the discipleship systems from nursery to college and their parents. The PFM will work to develop discipleship leaders to ensure that parents are prepared to lead their children, and that young people have spiritual mentors when their parents cannot be the model. The PFM will work with adult volunteers to implement discipleship groups, Sunday School, Wednesday and Sunday evening activities, and weekday adult studies.
Duties:
- Work with the senior pastor on a preaching schedule to include regular opportunities to preach.
- Share the pastoral duties with the senior pastor for worship, funerals, and special services.
- Assist the senior pastor in pastoral care needs, visioning/planning, and communicating the direction of vision/planning.
- Oversee relational and biblical ministries to children and youth.
- Ensure that the curriculum used at each level of spiritual development connects to the next level and is faithful to the aim of the Bible as a whole.
- Actively minister among the junior high and high school age groups throughout the week (i.e. youth group, functions, mentoring).
- Be active in local school systems/groups and community events.
- Work with the senior pastor and other ministry teams to ensure that there are opportunities for all generations to worship, learn, and serve together.
- Provide opportunities to celebrate children, youth, and new parents in our congregation.
- At every church gathering, be proactive in contacting guests and visitors with children.
- Recruit volunteers, teachers, and leaders for all Family Ministry positions.
Annual Salary: 55-65K
