Youth Worker BOOST: A New Start

ym360 knows youth workers. We know what an incredibly rewarding, yet incredibly challenging job youth ministry can be. There are days when your spirits are sky-high, and there are days when you could use a bit of a “pick me up” from God's Word . . . That's why we're happy to offer Youth Worker Boost, one of the many valuable resources on the ym360 Blog.

Boost is a short, weekly piece of encouragement designed to, well, “boost” your spirits and encourage you as you minister to students. We consider it yet another great opportunity to serve you and your ministry.

"And here is my advice about what is best for you in this matter: Last year you were the first not only to give but also to have the desire to do so. Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means."--2 Corinthians 8:10-11

The number one New Year's Resolution usually involves weight loss and/or personal fitness.

Hit close to home? :)

If you go to a gym you've probably noticed that the place is really full in January then the crowd starts to taper off as the year goes on. The excitement of starting a fitness plan is quickly replaced by the reality of a daily regimen of discipline and self-control.

As with many things in life, starting a project is always easier than completing it.

Paul wanted the Corinthian Christians to be generous in helping the poorer congregations in Jerusalem and Judea. He applauded their enthusiasm to start sending help and urged them to finish the project they started a year earlier. It's easy to see ourselves in the Corinthians. Look around your world today: what have you started that is unfinished? What relationship needs more energy? What initiative in your ministry needs some TLC? What commitment to God needs new attention?

With a new year comes the excitement of new things, but maybe your first resolution needs to be to finish what God leads you to do with the same energy and passion you had in the beginning.

Our prayer for you: We pray that today we would all rediscover our God-given and God-driven passion for the various things in our lives that need our attention and energy.
