ym360 knows youth workers. We know what an incredibly rewarding, yet incredibly challenging job youth ministry can be. There are days when your spirits are sky-high, and there are days when you could use a bit of a “pick me up” from God’s Word . . .

That’s why we’re happy to offerYouth Worker Boost, one of the many valuable resources on the ym360 Blog. Boost is a short, weekly piece of encouragement designed to, well, “boost” your spirits and encourage you as you minister to students.

We consider it yet another great opportunity to serve you and your ministry.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”–Philippians 4:6-7

People today have a lot of worries.

A sagging economy. High unemployment. Falling home prices. International conflict . . . and these are just a few of the concerns facing many Americans! This doesn’t even take into consideration the personal issues we deal with concerning our families, our relationships, our careers, our health . . . The list goes on and on . . . It’s easy to see how focusing on many of our day-to-day tasks can be hampered by constant worry.

Paul offered a great Biblical prescription for worry in the book of Philippians:

  1. Pray about EVERYTHING and tell God exactly what you need.
  2. Thank Him for what He has done.

Told you it was simple! If we follow these simple guidelines and we are promised that God will send us the wonderful gift of His peace. Not only will God send us that peace but it will be there as a constant guard for our hearts and minds.

When worry invades your life, trust in the power of the peace of God to fill you and guard you.

Our prayer for you:
We pray that you will continue to take your worries to God in prayer, trusting Him to provide for your needs, and to replace your worry with a peace only He can give.

Thanks so much! I needed that today. I’m working in children’s ministry and my husband is going to school to be a pastor. Needless to say finances are extremely tight. Lots of little things have come up and we worry about paying bills, getting kids ready for school, etc. I want God’s peace to trust and know that he’ll provide.

Thanks for sharing, Emily! While I haven’t been in your specific situation, I’ve been full-time in the ministry for the last decade or so. Not for the financial faint-of-heart, that’s for sure! :)

In my experience, I’ve been amazed at God’s provision at times, and amazed at others how He reminds us of His sufficiency when it looks like a “need” will go unmet. He hasn’t failed me yet.

Praying right now for the Lord’s peace in your and your husband’s lives.

Its amazing how often we need to be reminded of these promises. We’ve read them a thousand times, we know what they mean and yet how quickly we forget. Like a man that looks in a mirror and as he walks away forgets what manner of man he is. Thank you so much for the reminder, with all the personal chaos going on right now this is perfectly timed. God is soo good!

    He is, isn’t He, Erle?

That’s part of what the Word and the Spirit are for: to remind us of all these things. Glad you were reminded when you needed it today!

    God bless you.
