Youth Worker BOOST: Working Out For Good
ym360 knows youth workers. We know what an incredibly rewarding, yet incredibly challenging job youth ministry can be. There are days when your spirits are sky-high, and there are days when you could use a bit of a “pick me up” from God’s Word . . .
That’s why we’re happy to introduce Youth Worker Boost, the newest feature on the ym360 Blog. Boost is a short, weekly piece of encouragement designed to, well, “boost” your spirits and encourage you as you minister to students.
We consider it yet another great opportunity to serve you and your ministry.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”–Romans 8:28
“Intervention” is a reality television program about people who struggle with addictions and those who help them find their way out. Recently an episode featured a woman talking about her life as a prescription pain medication addict. Now a drug rehabilitation counselor, she helps people overcome their own addictions. She spoke about her past so eloquently. She said that despite the personal heartache and agony she faced, she would not change a thing about her life because of the amazing way God is using her today.
Romans 8:28 is a truth that speaks so fittingly to this woman’s situation. And it speaks to your situation, as well, whatever it may be.
This promise from Romans is for people who love God and are called according to His purposes. (Which can almost be looked at as two ways of describing the same thing, don’t you think?) God has a wonderful way of taking our joys and our sorrows and molding us into exactly what He needs us to be. God works through (and often in spite of) our circumstances to not only bring good for us, but to bring glory to Him and His Kingdom. This isn’t wishful thinking. This is a promise from God. And God is eternally faithful in keeping His Word.
No matter what you are going through today, you can trust this wonderful promise from the Bible.
God will honor our joys and redeem our struggles, turning them into something GOOD.
Our prayer for you:
We pray today that you would be able to see the hand of God at work in your life. We pray that you would take comfort and hope and joy at God’s desire to work in and through you.
Encouraged by today’s Youth Worker Boost? Don’t keep it a secret! Pass it along to a fellow youth worker or your adult volunteers. Share the love!

This is my favorite bible verse of all times! I always think of it as like baking a batch of brownies. All of the ingredients on their own may not taste the best (i.e. raw egg, flour, etc.) but when mixed together and put in the oven, you get a tastey treat.
Just like life…all of our situations and trials may not be great by themselves but when you pile them all together and sweat out the hard times (like being in an oven) then God will give you a wonderful outcome.
Great post!
Having been through several situations of tragedy and hardship, I am reminded that the situation itself cannot be declared “good” at any point. Things are hard, and need to be processed through. Take the time to heal, and allow God to be present with you in hard times. Someday, you will be able to look back on your journey, and see all the places that God is at work in your life. Philippians 1:6
Good insight, Adam. God work’s good out of bad. This is a truth that we see throughout Scripture. Just because good will be brought forth does not make the pain, or the loss any less. But God does REDEEM these feelings. Thanks for sharing, Adam.
